Erica's broken finger

We finally had our first broken bone with one of our kids. The week before Christmas, Erica went to a birthday party at the local "Bounce House" gym. She was not even doing anything crazy, but landed on her hand just wrong and snapped the pinkie finger of her right hand at the base on the growth plate. Due to the proximity of the growth plate we had to go to the pediatric orthopedics in Tacoma to get it evaluated. We first tried to just give her oral Morphine and Versed to make her sleepy, but after 2 attempts and a little screaming, she ended up getting an IV and being put to sleep temporarily with propophal (yes, Michael Jackson's sleeping drug of choice). Then after 2 more attempts the doctor finally got it back into alignment. She woke up with a little buzz and quite enjoyed the experience.

I know it is only a finger, but it still looks really awesome on the x-ray.
The good news is it healed very nicely and she should not have any growth plate issues to worry about.
Here is a funny clip of Erica after waking up. Her mind is still in slow motion.

Love the video! Out of the 3 it had to be Erica to break the first bone. I'm glad she's all healed up!

I am so thankful that the finger healed well. Be careful with that poco stick, no more broken anything O.K.!

Ouch! Impressive x-ray. It must be an epidemic in the family to break a bone right now. I hope it doesn't come our way.
